An 81-year-old woman in England believes that a ghost healed her 38 years ago and she even has a photo to prove it. The UK's Daily Express interviewed the woman and her husband yesterday regarding their experience.
On August 2, 1975, Diane Berthelot visited the Worstead Village Church in Norfolk with her family for the holidays. While at the church, Diane sat at one of the pews and prayed for a full recovery for an illness as her husband Peter and their 12-year-old son David walked around and took some photographs.
After the Berthelots reviewed the developed photos, they noticed something strange in one of them. In the photo, a ghostly woman dressed in old-fashioned clothes can be seen sitting on a bench behind Diane. At the time the photograph was taken, Diane had been ill from fighting an infection from a gall bladder surgery and she was on antibiotics.
“When we saw the white figure sitting behind me on the projector screen, we just stood there with our mouths open,” Diane said. “My feet started to tingle. This sensation eventually engulfed the whole of me. It was a pleasant, comforting feeling,” She said, remembering her experience.
Diane remembers sitting at the pew and said that she had a tingly feeling and was warm and comfortable. Peter was compelled to snap some photos of her. Diane, her husband, and their son were the only people in the room when the photos were taken.
“I had been walking around the church looking at various things. I came back, saw Diane sitting there and took the photo. I couldn’t see anyone behind her but it’s so clear on the image. It’s incredible,” Diane's husband Peter said.
The Berthelots later showed the photo to the church's vicar Reverend Petitt and he told them about a local legend about a healer known as the White Lady. According to the church leader, the apparition has been appearing since the 1830s and shows up when someone has an illness.
“I always felt it was a blessing because my whole life seemed to change after we realized the White Lady had sat behind me. I can remember the sensation that engulfed me sitting on that pew as if it was yesterday. I definitely believe in ghosts, Diane said.”
